Meet Khushboo : She LOST 44 lbs and GAINed confidence
“When you work out, you’re working on your body and your mind: becoming a stronger and more confident person.”
“I feel awesome!”
Growing up I was never comfortable in my own skin. NEVER!!.
I was always wearing loose clothes since they would hide my curves. But hey! Nobody’s perfect. We need to accept ourselves and work towards what we wish to be. And this is how workouts along with following a diet plan have become an integral part of my life.
I learnt through the years that fitness is a lifestyle and lifestyles don’t come with an expiry date. It is not a “one-size-fits all” approach but a unique regime tailored for everyone! It includes following a proper diet, sleeping timely, staying mentally strong as ‘fat to fit’ won’t happen in a blink but controlling hogging desires and working out regularly.
Living the healthy way
She followed a strict diet regime which consisted of protein shakes along with green tea for flushing out toxins from her body.
“The perennially hungry Me was finally ‘full’ and it felt amazing to finally listen to my body.”
She lost 10 kgs battling hogging desires, minimal workout and cheating cheat diets. The journey from 80 to 69 was not easy but helped her regain her lost confidence.
“But then I hit a plateau! It brought some discouragement but I had a game plan for it”.
I got myself a trainer at home and worked out 1-2 hours every day to lose my unnecessary weight. I followed a low carb diet containing mostly of vegetables, beans, and other grains (quinoa, farro, etc.) along with protein shakes and guess what? My weight was now 65 kgs! Sacrifices don’t go in vain, after all.
To my surprise, my thyroid results improved too.My doctor set new goals for me, “Lose 3kgs by August and 10 kgs by December and I will take you off your pills!” – Those words were music to my ears. Nothing felt more pleasant. FINALLY no thyroid pills.
Stamina was not built in a day
Tweaking your diet plan with the help of professionals along with gymming would give you the maximum effect.
The girl who failed to lift 2kg dumbbells was now lifting 7kgs, the girl who felt awkward even in loose clothes, was not confident in shorts too and the girl who was struggling to keep her health regime was finally motivated to live life the healthy. Change happens, Change happened and she finally had a smile.
You can have RESULTS or EXCUSES not BOTH
You can no longer complain about your long work hours stopping you for not exercising. If not an hour long, quick short time exercises works too In the amount of time we boil tea, we can actually workout and it will bring positive change! Short burst sessions like a five-minute run, four-minute tabata, and the 10-minute belly dance is perfect for those who are multitasking throughout the day. Such strenuous exercises for a short time bring about ‘higher potent’ physiological responses than say, a 30-minute walk or run.
So start, wherever you are!
And Remember, we all have time and it’s all about priorities.
Khushboo’s Success Mantra
We all know that getting fit isn’t easy, and it’s hard to keep going when things get tough. Here are a few tips to staying on track, breaking through discouragement and keeping your motivation in motion.
- Be Strong
So, you’ve decided to lose some weight. Good for you! The effort you’re putting into your health is something to celebrate and be proud of.
- Decide on how much weight you want to lose.
Keep your goals realistic. It is virtually impossible for you to lose 40 pounds in 2 weeks. Once you have decided on a weight loss program or plan, stick to it and make sure that you follow your own set of dieting rules.
- Know the Plateau
Whenever you start working out & eating right, you will notice positive results initially. However, you’ll hit a plateau, eventually. The old workout wouldn’t work anymore and the scale won’t budge.
It’s perfectly normal and just a part of the process. Don’t be discouraged.
Instead, know the plateau and build a game plan for it. Change up your diet and add new elements in your workout routine for a few weeks and see what happens.
- Prioritize gym time
If schedule permits, keep gymming as the first thing in the morning as priority. Completing the most difficult, will-power consuming activity first thing during the day will build momentum towards a more productive, happy day.
- Chart your progress
Weight loss is serious business. Treat it that way. Weigh yourself regularly and write the number down. A study shows that people who do regular weigh-ins are more successful losers.
